How to protect your credit and debit cards
  • Do not leave your cards out in the open for someone to obtain your account number.
  • Never carry PIN numbers in your wallet or write your PIN on the card itself.
  • Never write your PIN number down and leave it out for someone to find.
  • Keep a separate record of your account numbers.
  • Never sign a blank charge slip and always draw a line across any blank spaces to prevent amount alterations.
  • Tear up carbon copies and save receipts to verify against your monthly statement.
  • Shred or cut up old cards.  Be sure you cut through the account number.
  • Review statements and report and correct discrepancies promptly.
